Hi
Please ensure that your DNS setup is capable of both forward and reverse lookups.
A forward lookup is able to find a host by name, a reverse lookup is able to locate a host by IP address.
Including a couple of MS Links here to assist:
Verifying Your Basic DNS Configuration
Understanding Reverse Lookup
The nslookup command is most often used for this purpose
nslookup is a network administration command-line tool available for many computer operating systems for querying the Domain Name System (DNS) to obtain domain name or IP address mapping or for any other specific DNS record.

CIFS share access via IP is only possible with NTLM
For Kerberos based authentification a hostname has to be used.
If you setup either the VNX or the client to only use Kerberos than this is expected behaviour.

Hi All,
I am also facing a similar issue where our printer copiers are not able to access File Shares over IP address. Please suggest if a fix for this was found over service request?

Did anyone overcome this issue? We are now experiencing this with some printer copiers. They've now been switched to use FQDNs and its working. Not sure what caused this though.
