Problem Modular disk Storage manager

Hi everyone.

I have a problem to configure the modular disk storage manager, when i go to manage storage array i got this message:

The MD storage managment software (version 10.84.g6.25) you are attempting to use is not compatible with the firmware on the raid controller modules in storage array.....

Raid controller module firmware version: 08.20.05.60

Raid controller module appware version 08.20.05.60

Device API version required: devmgr.v1120api13,Manager

I tried to install different version of storage manager (from version of 2011).

I have no idea what version must be installed.

Can you help me?

Thanks

Marcello

Hello Marcello,

Here is the version of MDSM that you will need to install to manage your MD3xxx system with the current version of firmware that is on your MD3xxx. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=JTPC2&fileId=3563250117&osCode=W12R2&productCode=powervault-md3200&categoryId=CD

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello,

I don't know what model do you have it. When you operate the latest MDSM software on outdated firmware, such compatibility issues arise. Below is a link enter your service tag and find to the resource CD tailored to match the firmware version installed on your controllers. To resolve this issue, you will need to update the firmware on your RAID controller modules to a version that is compatible with the MD storage management software you are using. Once the firmware is updated, you should be able to successfully configure the modular disk storage manager. https://dell.to/3Up1vub

@DELL-Erman O

The powerVault Disk Storage management software (Version 11.10.0G06.0005) you are attempting
to use is not compatitble with the firmware on the RAID Controller Modules in Storage Array.

If you have recently updated your RAID controller module firmware,you need to make sure that its compatible
PowerVault Modular Disk Storage Management software has also been installed on all clients connected to this array.

If the appropriate version is not available, please provide customer representatives with the following information.

RAID Controller Module Firmware version: 08.20.12.60
RAID Controller Module appware version : 08.20.12.60
Device API version required: devmgr.v1120api13.Manager.

Hi, thanks for feedback. However, still don't know which MD you have. Please check if there is RAID controller firmware up to date. For example if you have MD32/36 series there is a Dell PowerVault MD 32/36 Series Storage Controller Firmware and NVSRAM firmware version 08.20.24.60

Dell PowerVault MD32/MD34/MD36/MD38 Series Resource DVD

@DELL-Erman O

IT Powervault MD3220i. These RAID controllers are new just got them 3 days ago Back.

the original ones in the array developed a fault due to power failure.

One of the original RAID controllers am able to ping it but can not access it with MDSM.

Thanks, I can understand the situation after the replacement controller. The new controller comes with a bit old version. I can recommend please update the controllers. Something confused me about the current version 08.20.12.60. Because I couldn't see that version in other available versions

Please try to update controller Dell PowerVault MD 32/36 Series Storage Controller Firmware and NVSRAM firmware version 08.20.24.60

Then update Dell PowerVault MD32/MD34/MD36/MD38 Series Resource DVD

hmm you're right. Then let's try to install another MD resource. The difficult thing is that I cannot see exactly which year the firmware on the controller is. But after researching, I believe it was released in 2016. Therefore, maybe a resource version from 2016 can be tried. https://dell.to/3W4V7cP

Sorry to hear that normally I would expect to match a previous firmware version. If it possible Could you send me part number of the controller? I want to check the controllers are compatible

I can't use those part numbers. There is usually a label with a QR code on the back of the controller like below one. It says DP/N there, can you post that number?
