Hey all. New Dude on the Block here.
I just purchased a new AP004 camera from someone on eBay. I can configure the camera ok and can get video working through the hardwired CAT 5 cable. I'm also using Windows 8. I want to use this camera remotely. I checked the wireless box in the configuration and set up the router information. Also made my IP static. Disconnected the CAT 5 cable. Rebooted the camera and I can not receive the camera. I ran a IP scanner and that IP does not show up. I ran the P2P app on my iPad and configured it to receive the camera ID. It will not connect. The camera will only work while hardwired to the router. I'm sure I'm picking up the WIFI signal because the CAT 5 is going through the router and I'm seeing the router. I've installed around 15 of these types cheaper types of cameras using the software on the CD. I think I have everything set up correctly. I'm wondering if I have a defective camera or possibly I'm doing something wrong.
I've been reading some of your threads here and I'm hearing kinda the same problems.
Can anyone here help me? Is there something else I need to do? What am I missing? Is there a mechanical switch somewhere? Is there a group forum for Sricam or a Sricam Tech office that can help me?
This has been going on for 2 days now. I'm about ready to take the camera out hunting!

Welcome to the forum...how did you set a static ip? When you change from ethernet to wifi the ip address will be different..the mac address will be different as well.

Side note: Sricam is a terrible brand...

My standard answer to wireless problems is, plug it in.
That said, are you sure you used the proper security type (WPA PSK, WPA2-PSK etc) and the correct passphrase?
The camera needs to be set the same as the access point (router) is set.

Hey Guys!
I guess you get what you pay for. Too bad. It looks cool and has some potential.
the way I set it up for static IP is to turn off was a pull down saying Dynamic or Static and turning off the DHCP. When the CAT 5 is connected, it always stays the the same IP and Port. (I hope I said that correctly).
It's like the camera WIFI address isn't there. I though maybe the I
P address changed and moved. So I tried the IP scanner. NOTHING.
I also double checked the right router name, the security, and phrase. Nada! I'd do anything to run a cable, but that's about 200' away and real tough to hide that. I'm stuck. I left a message to the seller. Wouldn't you know it, he's in China!

Set it back to dhcp, then try connecting via wifi, use a ip scanner to find it..after you find it you can set it to static again..

Hey all again. I thought I'd give y'all an update on what I found.....
I've been messing around with my new camera the last few days and still no luck with wireless.
Just for kicks, I added another new camera to test. This one is a Wanscam HW0025. Configured this one like the first Sricam and found that defective on wireless. This had me concerned. With one low cost camera not working on wireless I can see happening, but two cameras? This is sounding more like a problem external to the camera hardware. Did I configure it wrong? No different than the other cameras I installed before.
Today I plugged in a DLink 5010L camera. I know this camera worked perfectly a month ago with the same router. Nothing changed with the two. I switched it on and it worked great for about 5 minutes. After that I tried to log in and there was no way I could get back in. That's three cameras that don't work wirelessly! Can't be the cameras. Can't find anything on the router logs. You would think so. Maybe I'm not reading it correctly. All camera testing is done only locally. 192.168.1.xxx.
i shifted my thinking to the ISP. Because of my new home location, I have no available cable or phone service. Way out in the sticks. My only chance for a good ISP with high speed is HughesNet satellite service. Can get up to 16MB/s. Nah! I have a clear shot of the satellite. 3G and 4G cell is much faster! Anyway, I did some reading that HughesNet shuts down some ports. I'll bet there is someone out there that has had problems with HughesNet before. They also change the incoming IP address every day or more. It's very dynamic and hard to follow. I need to use a DDNS service. No problem with that.
Anyone out there know anything about HughesNet and IP wireless cameras? How about anything I could do to fix or go around this port problem? I probably should have mentioned the ISP before. I didn't think that my ISP was any different than anyone else. Other than being super slow and expensive!

Indeed, if you google "hughesnet ip camera" you see a lot of people having troubles getting cams to operate on that service. Don't know if they're a match for your problem or not, but most seem to be related to port forwarding and ip issues. You might sort through those hits and see what others have done to resolve the issue. At least you know you're not the only one ....

The isp will not affect the cameras operation on the internal network... You are not configuring it correctly... Remember that since the mac address changes when you go from wired to Wifi, the router will assign a new ip address..

Hi guys, I just joined so I could post an answer to this problem.

I bought 2 SriCam AP003's. Same issue. No wireless. Bugged the XXXX out of me. I wasn't gonna let this thing get the best of me. Worked on it all night and still no fix.

I finally went item by item through my routers config. Came across the wireless settings and noticed it was set for g/n for it's speed protocol. I thought maybe my camera was to old and changed the config to b/g/n and everything came alive.

Couldn't find this info anywhere so I thought I'd post it here so maybe the next guy or gal won't lose sleep trying to figure it out.

I hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info..if that they are using B wireless, that is terrible...this can slow down and affect your entire network...

I hear ya!! We have Comcast here and they have XFinity wireless piggy backing off our router. I checked and connected with it and still fast. Other then the cameras I can't see anything else inside my network but what the heck.

Give some, take some.

The next camera will be faster. The wife had bird feeders all over the back deck and she likes to watch them from her work. Who am I to say no to the wifey??

We all have to start somewhere.
Well I have them both online and visible from out phones. Now I just noticed that neither camera is showing anything in the green spectrum. Blue is fine, red is a little faded but there but all greens are showing as grey. What the heck!!!
My back yard and the trees look like something out of Harry Potter. Weird.

Any suggestion on software to view them from my PC? I seen a few out there but there is a lot of hype. Personal reviews would be better.

Again, thanks for having this here for us to use.

Your color issue is related to the IR filter or lack thereof...the camera must not have a filter or its stuck...
as far as software, do you simply want to view the cameras or record as well? do you need remote access away from home?

Remote on with record would be nice , but I think these are crap. IR is off when on and on when off.
The eBay store said they don't even know what model it is. Something about oem product.
It may be worth it to just send it back
I'm not a patient person when it comes to crap products.

Ill let you know if I send them back.
Any recommendations for a replacement?

Thanks again.

Thanks. it looks like I'll have to send them back. To many little issues for new cameras. I thought for watching birds up close a cheaper camera would do. Guess not!
I did look at the Hikvision and the Dahua. A lot more expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.

I'll post when I get the new ones.

Thanks again.

I had the same problem with two other cameras, interestingly they could log in with my newer AC router, but not with my older b/g/n router. I figured out that when i put the passwort encryption of the wirelesss to the newer AES then everything worked(the N-router was configured automatically as wpa2 + wpa with TKIP enabled, as this is a feature not every router supports it migth just also not be on the feature list of the cams). It also worked for my wifi doorbell, you might give it a shot.
