how do you connect wireless IP Camera to network

I need to hook up me wireless IP camera's to the internet using the 3800HGV0-B. I was using a linksys wireless router on comcast internet.

how do i do this.

Hello tomrdew, the instructions provided by beebeesa should help you modify the firewall to open the TCP ports needed for your camera setup.

The GUI you see on his instructions may be a little different then the GUI you will see on your 3800HGV-B but for the most part include the same settings.

Access your Residential Gateway by entering  http://192.168.1.254 in your browser's address bar. You will need to provide the system password to allow any changes, this can be found on a label on the side of the gateway.

Select the Settings Tab

Select Firewall

Select Applications, Pinholes and DMZ


Following the steps on this screen will allow you to modify the Firewall by  selecting an individual device to open specific ports or to open the Firewall to all connected devices if you set it in DMZplus mode.

If you select (Allow individual applications) on step 2 you can click on (Add a new user- defined application) to open specific TCP ports.

Hi tomrdew,

Also, if I remember correctly, with Comcast, they use a DHCP setup like we do, so as long as you have not reset your Linksys router, you can attach it to our router, and follow sadath_l or beebeesa's steps, but on the list where it says select your computer, you would choose the Linksys router, and choose the bottom option (Allow all applications DMZ Plus Mode), so that the Linksys router will handle the port forwarding to the devices connected to it.

On a side note with that, when having 2 wireless routers active at the same time, it can cause conflicts. So with that, you want to disable the wireless activity on one of the routers.

Having the same issue,I have done everything in the instuructions exactly. Once the network cable is disconnected it won't connect and the screen times out. I have done forwarding before and have had zero issues. my camera model is Avacom M1060W. I also had a different camera last week and it did the same thing. Not sure why it would do this , has to be one little tick mark somewhere to make it work.

Hi scotty921,

 

I completely agree with you. There is probably a simple router setting that is keeping this from working. If it works hard wired, but not wireless, either the wireless connection is having issues, or it's just a simple configuration issue, and I am more inclined on the latter. 

To check on the wireless connection, you can try to ping the IP camera if it accepts ping requests, or you can check the device list in the U-verse router to see if it is connecting wirelessly.

The only possible thing I can think of is that the port forwarding rules may be directed at the wired interface of your IP cameras vs. the wireless interface. I am assuming it is like a computer, and that your wired connection and your wireless connection are 2 separate connections being handled by 2 different pieces of hardware, and therefore, getting 2 different IP addresses. 

If that's the case, it may be easier to clear the firewall exception you created, and start over by just configuring it wirelessly.

I am trying to add my Zmodo Wireless IP camara to my network. It is assigned the local address of 192.168.0.23:99 and I can access it via any browser attached to the network. I followed the instructions here and added a user-defined app and assigned the same port 99. The firewall status page shows the following:

 

 

Desktop        JPRCAM        tcp       99       xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

 

of course the xxx's are my real IP, yet I cannot access my camera via a brower to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:99/mobile.htm (I not trying to connect using my internet, I am using my roommates', different ISP also trying using 4G connection via my cell) no success.

 

I had this hooked up no problem before I got ATT using my own router, in fact I was successful with several different routers. Now I have this 3801H6V and cannot get it to port.

I know this shows my Desktop as the device handling the camera, should this be the router instead? And if so, how do I change that?

Can I connect my Ring Cam or Arlo Pro to the network? I've tried doing so but failed. Can anyone provide any guidance or references?

I can access the YI home camera via ATT WiFi. However When I used the ATT 4G LTE network, Got

"Network connection failed. please check network setting and reconnect it". I am using iphone 6S plus.

Is there firewall to block the access?
