Logitech wireless keyboard problem

We have been using a Logitech Cordless iTouch keyboard with a Dell Dimension 8250.  All of a sudden the keyboard does not work.  The hardware option on Control Panel says it is working properly (although it does not specifically name this keyboard) and I have unplugged and replugged the USBs on the receiver and a litle balloon indicated that the hardware was installed and ready to use.  Still it does not make characters.  There is a "connect" button on the reciever and I have pressed it but it seems to me that there should be a connect button on the keyboard itself.  I have tried to press various buttons on the keyboard at the same time as the connect button on the reciever but nothing has worked.  There is no button on this Logitech Cordles Itouch keyboard that indicates "connect".  I have also tried to reboot and to use system restore to no avail.  I am a Mom and network administrator in this househould and as you can tell barely know what I am doing!  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Dave, I did change the two AA batteries.  There are a lot of numbers on a white sticker on the bottom, one is M/N Y-RB6  with RT7R00 V:5XTW  below it.  I have stared at this thing a long time and can't find a button underneath it.  I even looked under the batteries!  Of course, there are a lot of buttons on top.  I tried the one that looks like a crescent moon.  There is a button that says "connect" on the receiver.

You have a Cordless Freedom Navigator keybord and mouse system..

software here

According to the setup manual there should be a button just to the right of the battery cover.

there should be a connect button on the bottom of the keybord. it is not very big. Have you changed the battery? This is often overlooked.

What model of keybord do you have?

Thank you!  I have reviewed it and think it will definitely help me fix it.  I'll come back here and let youknow how I do.  We're getting ready to leave town so it may be a few days.  Meanwhile I have pilfered a corded keyboard so the kids can continue to do runescape.
